Solid wine, dark, firm and powerful. The black currant fruits shear through the tannic texture, giving a wine that is juicy, fresh, structured and definitely for aging.

94-96 Barrel sample. Initially this wine seems soft, but then it becomes obvious that the tannins are very present, dry and massive. But they are already well integrated, going together with the herbs, the spice and pure black fruit flavors. Impressive wine.

A solid, chunky structure is the hallmark of this big wine. The fruit is black, full of dark tannins. Perhaps it lacks subtlety, but that is replaced with great power and potential.

Very modern and polished in style, this wine goes for the soft, juicy fruit characters. The tannins are sweet, equally soft, already delicious in character, finishing with smoky cranberry and black currant flavors.

A big, thrusting, modern style of wine, packed with ripe black plum skin and vanilla flavors. To balance this power and fruit forward character, the typical 2004 freshness is very apparent, lifting the wine and giving it a vibrant character.

Brane-Cantenac’s natural elegance, at the heart of Margaux, doesn’t seem to have survived 2003 as well as some other properties, despite the initial favorable impression at barrel tasting time. That is to say that the fruit is very generous, juicy almost, but its ripeness seems out of proportion to the soft tannins and sweet aftertaste. Other current vintages, particularly 2001 and 2004, have been better. Imported by Diageo Chateau & Estates.
