An attractive, crisp, citrusy wine, full of herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc flavors. The delicious, full-blown fruit is well balanced with spice from the new wood aging.

Well-balanced, this is a wine that already shows the considerable improvements made at Brown under the Mau family ownership. There is a delicious lightness of touch, with black currant fruit flavors shot through with fresh acidity.

Tasted from magnum, the wine shows youthful vigor, layers of wood and dark berry flavors. It has the relative lightness of 2007, with a tight edge that needs to smooth out. Give the wine in a 750ml bottle another 5–6 years, a magnum up to 10 years.

A finely structured and shaped wine, the Sauvignon Blanc dominating the blend, but offering more of its tropical fruit side than its herbaceous character. However, there is a good hint of balanced wood, lifting and giving extra richness.

With its high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), this gives an initial serious structure, topped with rich, ripe black fruit flavors. The tannins are calmed by this richness, with spice, blueberries and blackberry juice much more dominant.
