89-91 Barrel sample. Attractive lemon marmalade aromas already make this wine appealing. The palate, too, shows charm and elegance, with just a touch of new wood complexity. A complete wine, which seems to be coming together already.

87-89 Quite soft, unfocussed, but also quite full-bodied, this seems to have strayed from the hot 2003. Good botrytis shows through.

90-92 Barrel sample. Complex wine, its botrytis character very dominant, heady, so concentrated it is almost dry. This is dense, very rich in character.

90-92 Barrel sample. A rich, toffee aroma introduces a wine which is definitely sweet, with caramel and baked apple flavors. It is ripe, freshened by acidity, but generally richly sweet.

This is a late release from the château; sweet and intense nose, burnt sugar, herbs, spices, spiced peaches, tinges of earth and mineral notes coffee, caramel; intense and rich in the mouth with a richness and concentration that is amazing for a wine of this age; complex flavors with incredible depth; lemons, pineapples, coffee beans, and apricots all vie for attention; mouthcoating and gripping; from a time when this property made incredible wines. Deep color, tawny edging toward brown, wonderful nose of orange peel, caramel, pine needles and pine tar, spices, sweet aromas, quite aromatic and effusive; sweet fruit in the front of the mouth with a mix of roasted oranges and apricots, lots of sugar in the body of the wine but also a big dose of acidity that adds a surprising amount of freshness to this grand old dame; nice sweet and clean finish with touches of sugared lemon and caramel, great at any age.
