Very rich and ripe nose, extensively perfumed and so aromatic, cassis and black fruits, tar, intense and with big, tight, extracted aromas; sweet and very ripe in the mouth on first taste, chocolate and blackberry extract; powerful, aggressive tannins emerge almost immediately on the palate, and they exert an intense drying effect on the flavors, but the wine nonetheless remains very concentrated and deep with rich fruit flavors that will not be denied; this is a typical ’03 style wine with that extra richness and intensity one does not normally associate with Bordeaux.

Very deep and sweet nose, typical for the 1990’s at this stage of their evolution, soft scents of chocolate, green peppers and spices; deeply hued and enticing; soft, rich and sweet in the mouth with a real shot of flavor when it first hits the palate; good balance; nice spiciness; long flavors at the end, but the finish is more simple than the early promise the wine would suggest; not up to the same level as the 2000. Deep nose, soft and rich, earthen and perfumed, black pepper and spices, complex; round and sweet in the mouth with lots of dry tannins still dominant at this time that give the wine a dry chalky taste; not unpleasant though and definitely a function of youth; at the same time the wine is ripe and rich with deep black cherry flavors; good acidity; long, spicy finish; earthiness and spicy flavors; at this stage still has the astringency and flavors of persimmons, but is one of the better wines from this property in years.
