Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Red wine is new to André Lurton’s property, only since 2002. This third vintage is dominated by new wood that works well, giving a smooth, velvet texture and a modern, polished feel.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
When Andre Lurton bought Couhins in 1970, he followed a long-established Bordeaux tradition and added his name to the name of the property. This is a delicious, grassy wine, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with flavors of pink grapefruit, along with some spice from wood aging. There is firm acidity to the finish.

Soft, very round, already approachable, the wine is flavored with spice, black berry flavors and sweet tannins. Juicy, ripe Merlot for medium-term aging.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A dry, spicy wine, with some good dense tannins. There is some power here, the dark fruits hinting at sweetness, but this is followed by the high acidity typical of the vintage. It should all come together in a year to 18 months.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A pure Sauvignon Blanc, unusual in Pessac-Léognan, which normally also includes Sémillon. This is a purely fresh wine, but with a serious aging potential side to it. For now, the white fruits, currants and pears are delicious, with fresh structure and a touch of wood spice. Screwcap.

A tight wine, showing racy fruit and an herbal character. Its acidity shoots through the orange zest and grapefruit flavors, leaving a wine that is bright, tangy and ready to drink.

Smooth, ripe and immediate, this is a wine that is developing deliciously, but fast. There is a great fresh, juicy character that balances with the ripe, full tannins. Don’t age, just enjoy.
