Was hoping for more. Opened and decanted 2 bottles. One bottle had a lovely nose and tasted quite smooth and ready to dring. The second didn't have much of a nose and was somewhat closed and bitter. After an hour and a half funnelled back to take to Joe's Steak and Seafood (Chicago). First bottle had improved just a little. Not much fruit showing through but still very tasty and balanced. The second needed almost an hour more air and never got quite as good.

Not a typical nose for this vintage, slightly green and herbaceous, there is the sweetness that one looks for in this vintage, but there are also leather and stemmy scents that suggest some damage to the wine or the effects of age showing; good sweet fruit in the front of the mouth mixed with pleasant cranberry and pomegranate flavors; good glycerin that gives the wine a nice mouth-coating texture; good acidity toward the finish, but the wine is a little flat and diffuse; probably better a few years ago. Aromas of green peppers and green herbs are the predominant aromas of this wine, light nose and somewhat reluctant; a bit thin and attenuated in the mouth, as expected from this difficult vintage; green tannins and a bit too much acidity in the body; there are some elegant flavors in the wine that if a bit more focused and powerful, would create an interesting wine, as there is a softness and velvety texture that is fleeting in the wine at this stage; not a well-balanced wine any more, but perhaps it never was.
