A wonderful, explosive nose with lots of green olives and cracked black pepper aromas, black fruit and chocolate, perfumed with intense, focused aromas; first taste is intense and sweet with deep black fruit flavors mixed with green herbs; the wine is still closed and tight with big, aggressive tannins that are grainy in nature; there is a basis for solid fruit in the body of the wine, but it is still layered over with a dry hardness that I trust will dissipate in a few more years; surprising that this wine is not more approachable at this stage in its life, and I hope that the promise of better balance that lurks in the deep and rich fruit that the wine possesses will come forth soon. (17 at this time, but could go much higher)

Light, herbal nose with aromas of sweet mature fruit mixed with earth and clay, quite dry and restrained nose; sweet in the front of the mouth with mature flavors of ripened fruit; lots of herbs and spices in the wine, as with many wines of this vintage, there is an austerity and almost remoteness to the flavors, which are defined as much by dry tannins and acidity as they are by fruit; long finish, elegant but quite light. Wonderful nose of rich fruit, but dominated by aromas of black earth, spices and pepper, acidity, and powerful smoky aromas; wonderful on the palate; there is a layer of sweetness on the palate that has rich ripe textures and lots of glycerin; but the wine also holds forth with powerful but balanced acidity mixed with shaped tannins that produce a wonderful wine with power and grace; long finish with fresh acidity and lots of power; lemony and fresh with layers of flavor and muscle at the end; this is a magnificent example of this vintage. Somewhat closed and reticent nose at first, with deep aromas of black fruits, cassis, and pepper lurking in the background, more depth and softness emerge with time in the glass, but the wine is still reluctant to give up its inner core of aromas at this stage; powerful and dense in the mouth, but at the same time fresh and elegant; lots of cassis and tar flavors mixed with herbs and pepper; smooth tannins, but assertive; good focused acidity; still very young in this format, but with a great deal of poise and presence; needs more time to reveal its full potential.
