Lalande-de-Pomerol, the village to the northwest of Pomerol proper, often produces wines that are very structured, but lack the velvet fruit of Pomerol itself. Here is a fine example, a wine that is very reticent with its fruit, but that blasts its way through on structure and dense tannins.
