91-93 Barrel sample. Dark licorice, sweet fruits and ripe tannins. A wine that shows great fruits and freshness, while at the same time big, dark tannins.

With Jean-Luc Thienpont of Château Valandraud acting as consultant, la Dominique is developing beautifully. Its tannins are rich, rounded, mingling with great black berry and spice flavors.

88-90 Barrel sample. Spicy, with well extracted tannins and spicy wood. The fruit is fresh though, packed with attractive blackcurrant flavors.

92-94 Ripe, juicy aromas, a wine that then offers sweet fruit, great flavors, a ripe wine with blackberry flavors and balanced tannins.

89-91 Barrel sample. This property has really improved, and the modern, new wood flavors are great testimony to that. The fruit is ripe, almost New World in style, but keeps the proper Bordeaux sense of proportion.

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Young nose dominated by green pepper aromas at this time, tight and coiled now, but also sweet herbs and chocolate aromas; lots of sweet fruit on the front of the nose, ripe black cherry flavors; the wine is fresh and bright in the mouth with excellent balance; a bit on the light side, but that does not detract from what is a beautifully crafted and presented wine. (18/20)
