90—92 Barrel sample. Initially, you are hit by a wall of fruit tannin, dark and forbidding. But then it opens into a heavily structured, but still fruity wine. One for aging.

91-93 Barrel sample. This should be a powerful wine, but the power is so tempered by light acidity, poise, even delicacy in the tannins, that at the end the freshness is the principal element.
