This is a seductive style of Pomerol. It may not have great weight, but what it does have is rich, juicy berry fruit flavors, an open structure and tannins just holding all this ripeness together.

89—91 Barrel sample. This is ripe, the tannins a whisper behind the spice and fresh, juicy fruits. Great ripe, fruity Merlot.

A chewy wine, which loses something with the somewhat stewed character of the fruit. It is dark, dense and dry, with structure, but the fruit appears almost too ripe.

Relatively light, this is fresh, with juicy red plum flavors topped by acidity. The tannins float over the fruit, leaving softness with only light tannins but a good fresh aftertaste.

89-91 Barrel sample. The fruit here is restrained, almost austere, while the tannins are dark and dry. Only finally does some juiciness appear. A wine that will need aging.

Firm and densely tannic, with a solid structure, this is a weighty wine, with its dark berry fruits giving extra power. The acidity does lighten it but the final effect is of a concentrated, jammy wine.
