A wine that is all cassis, almost jelly-like in its sweetness. It is fresh, delicious on the surface, though there doesn’t seem to be much underneath.

One of the great estates of the Graves, This vintage of La Louvière certainly fits into the classic whites of Bordeaux, packing impressive complexity into a wine dominated by Sauvignon Blanc. Intensity has been increased by the use of lees stirring following the Burgundy methods introduced by Denis Dubordieu.

93-95 Full textured wine, with acidity well integrated into the ripe, open structure. The wine has weight, while preserving its freshness. The lime acidity and spice push through to the final taste.

89-91 Barrel sample. Ripe, juicy fruit flavors of packed jelly and black fruit give this wine an initial lift. Tense tannins give the wine a dry feel, which comes through on finish.

87-89 While this is on the dry, tannic side, the blackcurrant fruit flavors push it into a different quality level, and give great promise.

89—91 Barrel sample. Ripe, soft, with attractive sweet flavors, this is a wine which will give pleasure early. It has some solid black tannins at its core, but the sweet fruit is all around.

Rich and creamy, this wine has weight as well as the hallmark freshness of 2007. The yellow fruits and spicy pear flavors are smoothed out with spice, with some herbaceous elements and a fine waft of apple skin structure. Worth aging for 3–4 years. Screwcap.

92-94 Barrel sample. Great, fresh swathes of Sauvignon Blanc give a delicious herbaceous character to go with the fresh fruits. Good green character, with a light spice from new wood.
