91-93 Barrel sample. This is impressive—a ripe, open wine, but showing some lovely, polished new wood flavors, vanilla and just a touch of spice.

Very rich, almost soupy, this is an enjoyable wine, not hugely structured and therefore not likely to age long. But in 2–3 years, drink this for its plumy fruits, its dried fruit richness and its light tannins.

92-94 Big, firm, with dense tannins that underly the ripe, dark berry and plum skin fruit flavors. Very powerful, the almost shocking acidity a cutting edge of freshness. Hugely juicy aftertaste.

88-90 Barrel sample. Very sweet fruit, deliciously approachable. Chocolate and ripe black fruit. The layer of tannin is important to keep all this opulence together.
