Deep mahogany color, aromas of burnt sugar, vanilla, pineapple and caramel; sweet in the front of the mouth, and quickly showing the high acidity that this vintage is known for; flavors of brown sugar, lemons, pine-scented spices; the wine suffers from a shortness of sweet fruit at this stage of its life and is more evolved than some other Sauternes from this vintage; still holding together well though, and has good balance; the finish is a bit short and dry with an uncharacteristic thinness in the finish that tends to undermine the full potential that this wine should have; good in the main and very acceptable from this property. (16.5/20)

This wine continues to puzzle me, showing well in one bottle, and disappointing in the next; this bottle falls into the disappointing category; sweet and rich nose with nice aromas of apricots and pineapple, vanilla bean; but not very exciting in the mouth; it is sweet enough, and has a nice soft texture that is almost creamy, but the wine is boring; it lacks life; there is fruit without substance; I can only characterize this bottle as flat. (14/20) Another bottle from the same case was rich and ripe with great fruit and spices, creamy and filled with layers of pineapple and pine; go figure. (17/20)
