Very sweet nose with powerful earthen undertones, touch of saddle leather in the nose, hint of vinyl, but layers of deep black fruit aromas dominate the total impact; ripe fruit flavors in the mouth; complex and layered, if not as powerful as some of the wines from this property can be; very fresh and focused; earthen black fruit flavors; coal, tar also emerge as they often do with these wines; the finish is clean and focused with plenty of red fruits at the end to refresh the palate.

Known for making powerful and dense wines, this is right there; sweet, rich and dense nose that is at times impenetrable, lots of cassis and black fruit, an abundance of licorice, pepper, quite hot aromas; sweet and floral in the mouth, much softer and richer than the nose suggests; but the core of big, chewy tannins is there, particularly in this format, and they have not relinquished their hold on the wine much; very spicy and peppery; intense finish; lives up to its reputation as the muscle-bound Pomerol.
