Beautiful nose, seductively perfumed and aromatic, peppery, clean and very elegant with touches of pepper and wood, acidity; great fruit in the front of the mouth, but this collapses quickly under the onslaught of massive drying tannins that overtake the wine and create a dry tannic fist in the mouth that will not release the flavors that were there at the beginning; this wine is probably starting to dry out seriously now, as the only thing left at the finish are the drying tannins with a sharp citrus undertone, but no depth. Sweet and rich nose with lots of black cherry and soft ripe plum aromas, slightly smoky, appealing nose; sweet and rich in the front of the mouth, with ripe red fruit flavors; smooth and velvety; after a time, however, harsh tannins begin to emerge as the fruit fades and the wine changes into a more grainy, tannic texture; I have had several bottles of this wine over the past two years, and my scores have varied considerably, suggesting that the wine is reaching the end of its useful life; this bottle was better than some but not as good as the best. Deep, rich nose loaded with black cherry aromas, mixed with a lot of spice and pepper, floral and perfumed, very elegant; perfect pitch on the palate, this wine sings; sweet fruit balanced with citrus and subtle but focused tannins; layers of flavor that range from ripe black cherry to pomegranate and cranberry; long finish; spicy and complex and better than I remember this wine in the recent past; a great example of the vintage in Pomerol. Very perfumed and sweet nose, great concentration of fruit, black cherry jam, extracted fruit; balanced, ripe in the mouth, very rich flavors; black cherry, sweet fruit preserves, serious extraction here; long sweet finish; this is superb and has aged better than I had thought. (18.5/20)
