This wine is a blend of 80% syrah and 20% Grenache, produced with organic farming and hand harvested; the nose evolves dramatically on this wine, starting out with thin and uninteresting aromas of sour mash, acidity, and alcohol, but then opening to reveal a more complex and appealing nose that mixes exotic herb essences with licorice, earth, sweet black fruits, smoke and hints of vanilla; first taste is sweet and ripe in the mouth, with the edginess that the wines from this region often possess; the wine is round and smooth, but with an edge of alcohol that hardens its effect; there is a nice mix of herbs and licorice, sweet fruit, and a nice mouth-feel to provide a spicy and focused finish; a bit simple and two-dimensional but good for the venue.
