Complex aromas, but also somewhat odd, very toasted nose with a slight medicinal hint often found in the Pomerols, tanned leather, black pepper, dried leaves, but with a hint of chocolate and mint; sweet fruits greet the first taste, but these quickly give way to strong acidic flavors; the wine has a real bite; there is a real richness of flavors in this wine, but at the same time, there is a hardness that makes the wine seem out of synch; sweet and dense but quite dry at the same time, with tobacco leaf and earth flavors; seems like this should be better. Wonderful nose of sweet fruit, leather, tobacco and cedar mixed within a harmonious mélange of layers; sweet and intense, belying the vintage; lots of black fruits in this wine, particularly plums and cherries; good light tannins, the wine is pretty much mature now and a pleasure to drink; probably not something for the long term, as I sense a low level of acidity, and pretty much softened tannins already, but good now.
