92-94 Barrel sample. A fine and spicy wine, the wood toast well integrated with the sweet fruit. Deliciously ripe Merlot vies with the Cabernet tannins to give a dark, complex wine.

With the 2003 vintage, Lilian-Ladouys returned to its previous form after a fallow period. This 2004 is a good follow up. It has ripe black plum and mint flavors, and solid, dense tannins, leavened by juicy acidity.

Since the futures tasting in 2009, the wood element has been tamed. It is still an important factor, but the fruit has blossomed, showing a solid core of tannins, surrounded by dark plum and red fruit flavors. It will need many years, but everything is here now.

85-87 Barrel sample. High wood here, with spicy toast. The fruit is lean by comparison, hinting at freshness, but not giving much through the wood and tannin.

93-95 A fine wine, the juicy fruits overlaying the firm structure. It has all the right weight, perfumes, new wood element. A great success.

From a mosaic of 90 different scattered parcels, oenologue Georges Pauli has constructed a firm style of wine, with Saint-Estèphe’s characteristic tannins and fresh black currant fruits. This is a structured wine, which should certainly age well. Imported by Fruit of the Vines, Inc.
