Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
As always, Lynch-Bages comes in with an impressive performance. It is rich, dense and ripe with black fruit flavors. The texture is solid, the intense fruits complemented by ripe tannins. And, to finish, there is the freshness of currant fruit acidity. A really fine wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Typical of Lynch-Bages in its sumptuous rich style, this is a resounding success for the team of Jean-Michel Cazes. With its sweet fruit, opulent but balanced wood and red and black fruit flavors, it is a wine that will develop relatively quickly but will certainly age.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Year after year, Lynch-Bages is able to produce sumptuous wines, typically rich, powerful and structured. This is solid, the blackberry ripe fruit enveloping this structure with a velvet sheen. This is developing into one of the successes of the vintage.

93-95 Barrel sample. Dark, balanced, but concentrated, a powerhouse of fruit and ripe spices. The tannins are in the same league, a wave of solid structure, giving support to the freshness of the final acidity.

94-96 Barrel sample. A wine that seems to revel in richness. The tannins are certainly structured, but the fruit is just bursting out. The dryness and the acidity, though, promise that the fruit will be tamed and the wine will age well .

92-94 The wine is dominated by the aromas of new wood. It is rich, sweet and packed with new-wood tannins. These dominate the fruit, but also give sweetness.

Rich, impressively ripe fruit, the fruit dense and black, with juicy black plum flavors followed by dusty tannins. The wine is chunky, powerful for the year, the dryness smoothed by new wood.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Classic Lynch-Bages with just a bit of extra power and richness. While the tannins are structured, it is the velvety fruit that rolls around the mouth that is the most dominant character. It is coming together into a wine that will be big and dense, but never over the top.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Considering the reputation of Lynch-Bages as a rich, polished wine, it is not surprising that, in 2003, the team of Jean-Michel Cazes and Daniel Lhose produced a superlatively ripe, opulent wine, one that could almost have come from Napa. But not quite: The fruit is compact and dense, with layers of acidity that speak more of Bordeaux than California. Imported by Diageo Chateau & Estates.
