A delicious, smooth, ripe wine, almost lush with its opulent tannins and juicy raspberry fruits. There is just a core of firmness inside all this softness, but this remains an instantly attractive wine.

Formerly owned by the Prats family (who still manage Cos d’Estournel), Marbuzet normally makes impressive wine. Not so the 2004, which seems to have acquired a rustic, earthy character, leaving a bitter taste.

A perfumed wine, with delicate freshness as well as big, solid tannins. It’s full of fresh blackberry jelly flavors. At the end, the general impression is of a surprisingly delicate wine for the year. Imported by Diageo Chateau & Estates.

91-93 Barrel sample. A fine, smooth wine, showing great tannins over big, solid fruit and very dark, chocolate flavors. There is acidity, but this is dominated by wood tannins.
