Definite richness alongside classic elegance. It’s a stylish wine, the fruit integrated into a beautiful structure. It’s not all refinement, because there is also a weight to the black plum skin and dark berry character. A wine that will age over many decades.

92-94 Barrel sample. Soft, ripe, pineapple and mango flavors. An exotic wine, powerful, but with extreme freshness, touched by honey.

90-92 Barrel sample. Because of the high proportion of Merlot this is an opulent, sweet and ripe wine, more new world than Margaux. It's less of a second wine than a beautifully polished wine in its own right.

94-97 This year, Margaux has pushed the limits of its traditional elegance, yet retained a great sense of style. The wine is dense, the low acidity almost irrelevant in the huge tannins, the super-ripe fruit intoxicating.

A powerful and weighty wine, even from the lighter 2002 vintage. Château Margaux’s white is made with the same attention to detail as the reds, balancing fresh acidity, richness, layers of wood and great sophistication. It will age over 5–10 years.

95–97 While this wine certainly has power, it is its almost other-worldly floating character that is most striking. The fruit glides over the palate, leaving freshness with layers of intense acidity and wood to finish.

89-91 Barrel sample. A wine that has all the grace of Château Margaux, but just a hint of depth and power. The tannins stay soft, there are hints of spice and a distinct acidity.

94-96 Barrel sample. A dense wine, but without huge power. It goes for the elegant side of Margaux, soft, beautiful. The black cherry fruits are lively, juicy, with extra fresh acidity. Not big, but definitely elegant.

89-91 Barrel sample. Château Margaux's white wine is very rich in 2005, with fruit that is tropical and almost sweet, but maintaining a fresh and citrusy feel.
