The heavy aromas of earth, wet lettuce and green beans are worrisome, but the palate exceeds expectations. The blackberry fruit is actually pretty ripe and wholesome. The mouthfeel features heavy tannins and a pronounced flavor of black coffee. But while it has good fruit and texture, there’s also an annoying green streak that lingers in the mouth. —M.S.
