Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, typical of this region to the east of Saint-Emilion, this is a ripe, smooth wine, its tannins spread through the fresh red fruit flavors. There’s lively acidity here as well, a wine whose tannins promise aging.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Stéphane Asséo, who also owns L’Aventure in Paso Robles, California, runs this estate as one of the star properties in Castillon. The wine is rich and plummy, with dense, soft fruit, dusty tannins, layers of new wood and ripe black fruits. Drink now, or keep for 2–3 years.

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Good nose of rich, ripe fruit aromas, black cherries and black fruits, touch of tar and earth, peppery and spicy; a bit simple, but with good, deep fruit flavors, lots of cherry flavors, spices, a bit smoky; good extraction and concentration; medium weight with a solid structure; good finish, lots of fruit, medium tannins; balanced acidity; this needs to be drunk young. (16.5/20)
