This wine is fresh, with hints of ripe fruit and aromas of tobacco. It has some darkness, good black fruits and dark tannins, along with some good smoky wood.

With a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has both structured and superbly rich fruit. The tannins are firm, but show a sweet, enticing edge to them, giving a full body and classic, fresh black currant acidity. An impressive wine, which definitely needs to age—five years or more.

Consistant with the notes of others. Opened, decanted and poured. I'll give the next one more time, but this was drinking very nicely right away.

Big, full but integrated tannins. Still partially closed even after over an hour. Full bodied and way better than it's humble appelation of Haut-Medoc. Will revisit this in '06, but it will probably need til 2010. Great stuff (9/2005). Inky dark color. Intense aromas and taste of violet, cassis, vanilla, earth and meat. Strong, but well integrated tannins. Lingering finish. Very good stuff (7/2006).

On our 35th Anniversary. Followed a Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoch and preceded a 78 Cos and a 70 (anniversary year) Lafite. The S-M was not out of place with the second and first growths. Drinking beautifully. Rich and full, tannins big but soft. Almost smoky with leather and tobacco layered over the fruit. 92-94 (6/2005). Consistant with prior bottles, a delicious quaff. The tannins rich and soft, the fruit showing more leather and tobacco. I think at it's peak or perhaps a tad past. 92-93 (9/2005). Fill level and extracted cork looked like they came from a new bottle. The wine showed no sign of being past its time. The color was bright and deep red to the edge. The nose was rich with both floral and earth tones. Sad there is only one more left. 93-94 (1/2006).
