94-96 Barrel Sample Perfumed wood aromas, with spicy, dark toast flavors. To taste, it is like peering into a dark tunnel, very heavy, firm and unyielding. The fruit’s somewhere there in the darkness.

A soft, rich wine that bears all the classic qualities of the Valette family’s winery - a strength of line along and complexity. The fruit is ripe, ultra-generous, but is still tempered with layers of acidity and soft tannins.

Heavy new wood influence gives a creamy, toasty palate, the fruit lying under this smooth surface. It is juicy, packed with firm tannins. It will take several years for the wine to properly integrate.

A wine that succeeds in combining great depth of flavor and structure with an impressive array of flavors. On top of the tannins is juicy black fruit, cocoa, a welter of spice and ripeness. The acidity and new wood put the wine into a more modern style. Wait for at least 5–7 years.

93-95 Barrel sample. Definite new wood aromas here, the wine impressively dense, structured. Then there is velvet, caramel wood layer that sneaks in to give a wine that has freshness, but great elegance.
