Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The wine is ripe and rounded, full of red cherry and raspberry flavors. It has weight and enough richness while not losing its acidity.

From old vines on the Vignelaure estate, here is a concentrated wine, packed with fruit and acidity. There is weight, delicious spice and wild strawberry flavors. It is delicious, full and fruity.

Mainly Syrah, this is a rich, full style of dry rosé, with plenty of strawberry and watermelon fruit and a layered, textured mouthfeel.

Château Vignelaure Rosé - 2007

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A top-notch effort, the 2004 Vignelaure is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 5% Grenache. The Cab dominates the bouquet, featuring cedary notes and hints of mint and tobacco, but it’s softened and smoothed out on the palate by the inclusion of the other varieties, offering more cherries than cassis. Approachable now, but this is a wine that’s balanced for up to 20 years of aging, as the 1990 still appears to have plenty of life.

Château Vignelaure Cabernet Blend - 2004

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet is aged in 100% new oak, and even seven-plus years after the vintage the oak is still prominent—there’s lots of vanilla and toast upfront. That said, the wine has a rich, creamy texture and plenty of black cherry and herb notes come through on the finish, so the bet here is that this just needs another year or two before being ready for primetime.
