Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Mainly Merlot, this is a dusty, cassis-scented wine that picks up hints of raisin and chocolate. Shows decent length and soft tannins, making it immediately approachable.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is an unconventional blend that works, with the dark-fruited and firmly structured Cabernet lending depth to the soft, cherry-scented Grenache. It's juicy and lightweight, with a hint of pepper on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This has grapes from Pommard, Rully, Nuits-St-Georges and Mercurey in it, as well as a healthy dollop from Corsica, of all places. It's dark in color, with plum and chocolate aromas, but seems a bit tough and lean on the palate, lacking some of Pinot Noir's seductive texture.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From the island of Corsica, this was our pick of the Chamarré wines, combining stony, smoky aromas with flavors of strawberries and herbs. It's a copper-colored rosé that finishes fresh, with a hint of anise.

Chamarré Grenache-Shiraz - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A nearly 50-50 blend, this starts out with Sauvignon in the lead-grapefruit and melon aromas-then adds typical Chenin notes of apple, pear and citrus on the palate. There's just a hint of sweetness (4g/L residual sugar), which imparts some added weight.

Chamarré White Blend - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Not overly sweet, this may be better with cheese or foie gras than with dessert, but it is a pleasant little sweet wine made from both Gros and Petit Manseng. Smells of orange rind and honey swirl from the glass, followed by seductive flavors of papaya and apricot. Crisp and citrusy on the finish-not cloying at all. This is the one wine in the lineup that can probably age beyond a year or two.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of lots from Burgundy and the Languedoc, this is a decent little Chardonnay, with pear and melon flavors and hints of honey and cashew. Picks up mild citrusy notes on the abbreviated finish. The fruit is 2005, although it can't say that on the label because of European labeling requirements.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Simple fruit dominates this blend of 63% Chardonnay and 37% Sauvingon Blanc. Pear and pineapple flavors add hints of grapefruit on the finish, with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel.

Chamarré Chardonnay-Sauvignon - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This blend draws from various Bordeaux communes, the French Pyrenees and Languedoc, resulting in a clean, fruity Cabernet Sauvignon that's fairly priced for the quality. There's a bit of dusty wood upfront, but also solid cassis fruit, which never gets overly tannic or severe. Drink now.

A ripe, juicy wine, layering red plums, rhubarb and some spice. There is a warmth here, which goes well with the soft tannins. The finish is fresh and soft.
