A complex Champagne, with its apricot, green plum and pink grapefruit flavors, mixed with a rich, creamy texture and soft acidity. The final tastes are of lychees, with some toastiness.

A Champagne that is definitely on the tropical side, its flavors of pineapple and creamy texture more dominant than the hint of tight acidity and toastiness. The final fruit remains rich and intense.

Aromas and flavors of sweet apples are part of this Champagne’s delicious, creamy character. There is light yeastiness, freshness and a soft aftertaste. A wine for now, not for aging.

Dark, rich and sensuous, this is a ripe Champagne, boasting pear and apricot flavors. Although the aftertaste appears dry, the richness gives it a very sumptuous mouthfeel, leaving a long, full aftertaste.

Pretty sunset pink color, with a soft, strawberry Champagne. It is dry, but the dryness is less important than fruitiness, with citrus and caramel flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A full, balanced wine with layers of grapefruit and a pure citrus streak. Secondary flavors of almonds and toast add complexity. This is not profound, but it is eminently enjoyable.

Chartogne-Taillet, owned by a family who have been growing grapes since the 15th century, have parcels of old vines in their Merfy vineyards, which go to make this fine mature wine. With aromas of white flowers and flavors of toast and ripe fruit, it blends complexity with a sensational, lingering aftertaste.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, this has the same style of mature fruit as all the Chartogne-Taillet wines. It’s finely balanced, with a good structure and elegance. Finishes with flavors of almonds and quince.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Philippe Chartogne’s nonvintage Blanc de Blancs comes from 25-year-old vines in his family’s Merfy vineyard. With its apple and green fruit aromas and soft, creamy mousse, it manages to balance richness, softness and acidity. The aftertaste is light and crisp.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is the basic nonvintage cuvée from Chartogne-Taillet and the only (slight) disappointment in an otherwise great range. The wine has a yeasty character, with apples and white fruits with toast coming through at the end. But unbalanced sweetness from the dosage was apparent in this bottling—maybe if it is kept it will improve.
