Spicy and sweet, this Zin, from century-old vines, has quintessential varietal flavors of wild red and black berries, chocolate, thyme, cedar and pepper. Drink now for its youthful charm.

This is a very limited first production wine from the family that owns the famous Hayne Vineyard; huge nose, dense, ripe fruit, lots of sweetness, tar spices, acidity, complex aromas with touches of leather and herbs; huge wine in the mouth, dense and extracted, rich and sweet with a powerful grip; quite a bit of alcohol in this wine though that is a little too evident on the palate at this time; this wine could pass for a cabernet if one is not careful; needs more time in the bottle to shed its baby fat and develop more character, but an amazingly powerful statement for zin fans. I was introduced to this wine last year, and thought of it then as one of the better Zins that I had tasted; I feel the same this year, as the wine continues to exhibit a powerful pull with its big and rich nose loaded with black fruits and tar, spices and full aromas; big and rich in the mouth with a deep and full structure; powerful tannins mix with gobs of fruit; spicy and peppery while at the same time sweet and bordering on elegant; long finish and still pretty tight needing more time before it will be ready to show all of itself.
