The fresh, soft fruit is already drinkable and the tannins are light, as is the texture of the wine. The red berry flavors are attractively integrated, leaving simple freshness.

As with many Margaux in 2007, this wine is all fruit, very little tannin. That brings out the attractive black currant flavors, but does mean that it is likely to be mature in the short term.

One of the many Margaux estates under the control of the Lurton family, this is a classic wine, with dry wood and dark tannins, flavors of black currants and light acidity. There is no mistaking this as Bordeaux, with its serious, ageworthy fruits and tannins.

Very soft, this is a wine that misses firm tannins. There is red berry, fresh acidity and some wood; a lively wine that seems likely to age quickly.

87-89 Firmly structured, dense tannins and wood, leaving the fruit behind. Extraction is a problem here.

90-92 Barrel sample. Dry, tight tannins, the fruit a hint of berries over stalky blackcurrants. This is a dense wine, with black flavors, only a hint of a powerful future in store.
