Soft, pleasant wine that lacks intensity. There is some good acidity as well as fresh fruit, but there’s also an unappealing bitterness.

This is a great success. Youthful tannins exude power and vitality, combining with great fruit concentration, the elements coming together with sweet chocolate and cocoa as added richness. A tasty wine that is developing well.

88-90 Barrel sample. With its minty aroma and high proportion of new wood, this is a wine which shows polish, a smooth, wood-laden texture offering a wine that will probably age quickly.

91-93 Barrel sample. Big, ripe and juicy, spiced and fleshy. There is certainly concentration here, but also considerable spicy juiciness.

Once the sole claim to fame of this estate was that it was the smallest, as well as one of the most obscure, of the classed growths. Now, its fame come from the quality of its wines. Winemaker Claire Villars-Lurton has crafted a wine that is dark and brooding, with big, powerful, intense fruit, dark flavors and solid tannins. Bordeaux in style, but has a great, polished, ripe feel too.

90-92 Barrel sample. Dark, dry and tannic this wine currently offers little in the way of fruit. The tannins are firm, solidly based and only hinting at the fruit underneath. It's a tough wine at the moment, but the structure will certainly see it into a good maturity.

92-94 There is power and richness here, the wine has weight, delicious ripe fruits and a smooth texture. Under that surface is the powerful, dense texture.

A soft juicy wine, with mid-weight. The berry fruits, the black currant juice and the fresh acidity are enjoyable. It’s developing fast, and not likely to age.

91—93 Barrel sample. Dense, balanced wine with great layers of black fruits. This is rich, relatively concentrated for the year, a wine that shows the acidity as a positive addition.
