The price is almost ridiculous for the quality. This is a dark, plummy rosé, perhaps best served with beef because of its bold flavors, full-bodied, textured mouthfeel and slightly tannic finish. Next time you're thinking Beaujolais, try this instead.

This blend of Grenache and Syrah is spicy and bold on the nose, yet medium-bodied and surprisingly fresh on the palate. The flavors of plum and garrigue persist on the finish, picking up a touch of cracked pepper.

Although characterized as a Rhône wine, it is from the very southern end of the valley so properly qualifies as a southern wine; deep color, more intense than the wines from the Loire, made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah; sweet fruit, fresh apples, citrus fruit, spices and sweet aromas; first taste is very sweet and could be fatal, but then the wine takes on more balance and poise; good sense of lemons and green apples, grasses, herbs; a bit chunky but a perfect accompaniment to a seafood salad
