Very ripe and rich nose, lots of leather notes here, spices, ripe fruit, mostly black cherry and earth, hints of licorice and herbs; first taste is sweet and rich with very ripe fruit, but this wine lacks balance; the fruit is coarse and there is far too much tannic presence to make this an enjoyable wine; it is somewhat harsh and dry in the mouth, and although there is a fair amount of fruit, nothing about this wine seems to work together; disappointing I would say.
