Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a good example of what Finger Lakes Chards can offer: assertive, full-flavored Chardonnay flavors and layers of spice edged by a clean minerality. Balanced and offering a supple mouthfeel, the wine is both food friendly and elegant.

Semisweet, with lemon verbena and honeysuckle aromas and lychee, citrus and spice flavors. Lacks acidity to match the sugar and has a gritty mouthfeel ending with sweet bubblegum.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Delicious aromas of peach, tropical fruit and spice lead this spirited wine from consistently good Chateau Lafayette, located on New York’s Seneca Lake. There’s a bright, zippy, and eaysgoing character of citrus and fruit on the palate that recommends this wine for food pairing and just sipping out on the deck. It’s not terribly complex but it doesn’t need to be—it’s delivering everything in an elegant, approachable package and at a good price.

A rich, floral nose starts this expressive semi-dry Riesling, displaying a combination of juicy fruits and spice. The melon flavors are fruit-forward and combine minerally zip with creamy complexity. Overall, an interesting wine that is still approachable. Pair with spicy cuisine and fresh seafood.

Sweet and honeyed, but with enough tongue-tingling acidity to keep it almost in check, this is a well-made sweet table wine. Aromas and flavors blend tangerines and ripe apples.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Quite viscous and bright, with lots of lemon, orange, pear, melon and spice flavors. Toasty oak and vanilla also are in evidence, as well as a slight hint of sweetness on the finish. Still, crisp and clean at the end.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
If you can handle the pounding aromas of barrel char and spice, which is akin to southern BBQ, then you should like this ripe, well-balanced Cabernet from New York. The palate is substantial, with plum and cherry flavors and a chewy mouthfeel. The finish is multilayered and spicy, and diggers will find some depth and secondary characteristics. —M.S.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Somewhat strange at first, with ultra-bright texture and a riotous array of canned cherry, menthol, blueberry, and herb flavors. Tannins are rustic and the finish is a bit longer than you bargained for, with a touch of sweetness at the end.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Despite its “dry” label, this Riesling has a touch of sweetness. A Gewürz-like nose of spicy lychee and rose petal dominates, with some aromatic mint notes. In the mouth, the fruit is more generic and candied, but has nice hints of mineral. Finishes with spice and citrus pith.
