* Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
This magnum was served at Daniel’s Citymeals-on-Wheels benefit, and came directly from the property; fresh and powerful nose, huge nose of black fruits, tar, cassis, very sweet and aromatic with wafting tendrils of black fruit and flowers; sweet and rich in the mouth, intense and powerful with lots of depth; focused and well balanced with nice red fruits; this wine avoids the tendency to go over the top and has a Bordeaux freshness; keeps its California character too though with elements of chocolate, cedar, and oriental spice; long powerful finish with layers of dry tannins in the end; I have found the wines of this property are long-lived, and I suspect that this still has years to go.
