My notes on this wine over the years have been mixed, but in the main I felt the wine disappointing; now at this stage of its life, it has assumed more Mouton characteristics and seems better; wonderful aromatic nose, rich milk chocolate and mocha aromas literally flow out of the glass to produce a nose that is so rich, sweet, and smooth as to be surprising, hints of mint and green pepper are there, as are sweet Asian spices; smooth, rich and sweet in the mouth; this wine is now totally decadent, liquid chocolate with a touch of mint, sweet earth and spices; almost too smooth, though, and the absence of acidity is palpable making the wine border on flabby; this bottle served with cheeses, though was terrific. Another bottle from the same case was similar in most respects, but perhaps a bit more aged; would probably knock it down a half a point.

A forgotten vintage now, with bad growing conditions; the nose on this wine is surprisingly full, ripe, and sweet, lots of chocolate and mocha, wonderful red fruit aromas as well, earthen at the end; sweet in the mouth and actually with some nice definition of fruit, but quite thin and lacking a center; there is nice fruit in this wine, but it is afloat and without any definition; short finish.
