Tasters found overripe notes ranging from prunes and raisins to blackberry compote, wrapped in the sweet vanilla, char and smoke. The tannins are pretty gritty and pronounced. One taster called them chunky, but not painful.

Plush aromas yield to tangy bright raspberry and strawberry flavors. There’s a lot of spice and heat here as well. Bright on the finish.

Nice fresh nose with loads of shoe leather and fresh red cherry scents, peppery spices, light and clean aromas; fresh sweet flavors of cherries and spices, touches of leather and pepper, sweet and sour; clean and crisp, though a bit simple and light; does not have the power of the bigger wines now being made in California and lacks the depth, but a well-made and intelligent wine.
