I preferred this winery’s less costly Central Coast bottling to this one, which has an odd, raw meat smell and is too oaky. Although it has polished cherry flavors and good acids, it’s odd.

Raw in acids, chocolaty and ripe in blackberries to the point of raisins, yet dry, this is a country wine meant to be consumed with gusto over barbecued ribs and chicken.

There’s a leathery, sweaty aroma and taste here that’s not very pleasant. The wine is also disagreeably sharp.

This soft and inviting wine seduces with suede, caramel, cinnamon and vanilla aromas and flavors, then turns harsh and a bit metallic on the finish. It’s schizophrenic, much like the panel was regarding this wine, with one reviewer liking it more than the score indicates.
