In the smooth, polished style of other wines in the Cistus range from Quinta de Val da Perdiz, this wine has mint aromas, licorice and some bitter chocolate flavors, rounded and burnished with new wood flavors. It needs aging—maybe 4 or 5 years.

Black and dense, with rich tannins, offering blackberry jelly, black plums and intense concentration. Initially, all this seems too much, but with its layer of fresh, juicy fruit the wine comes through well.

This dark purple wine opens with a trace of animale or game, but also boasts intense aromas and flavors of roasted blackberries, accented by pinches of cinnamon and clove. Broad in the mouth, it would be a solid choice to serve with grilled or roasted meats. Imported by Aidil Wines & Liquor Inc.
