Features scents of coffee, meat, button mushrooms and brown sugar. It’s a savory style that’s earthy and complex, with undercurrents of cherries and cola. Nicely rounded and supple in the mouth, this seems ready to go, with no need for further aging.

Slightly rubbery or tarry on the nose, this wine does show some simple, ripe cherry flavors on the palate. It's rather full-bodied, not enlivened quite enough by a prickle of carbon dioxide.

Starts off distinctly herbal, but also gushing with cherry fruit—a complex, intriguing blend. The flavors seem somewhat simpler, combining black cherries with chocolate, but also a lemony streak of acidity. Finishes crisp, without much tannin. Drink now.

Winemaker Mike Just, formerly of Lawson’s Dry Hills, has gone out on his own and this new release is a terrific effort in a riper style. Melon and fig flavors are honeyed and round in the mouth, finishing long with touches of spice.
