Carries strong aromas of meat, cinnamon and wood. Heavy fruit in the plum and blackberry range. There’s no mistaking this for a lightweight—it’s big, muscular and loaded with oak. Big to the point of being nearly overdone.

Long considered a member of Barolo’s New Wave vanguard, Clerico’s wines are still unabashedly oaky, featuring aromas of toast and vanilla liqueur and lush masses of soft tannins underneath. Drink now–2015.
