This grand cru monopole, owned by the Mommessin family, makes wine that charms easily, with its perfumes and berry fruit flavors. But there is a definite tannic character that only appears once the wine has been in your mouth for a few moments. Then it is apparent that it is dry, needing aging. The aftertaste is very fresh.

A velvet-textured wine, relatively light because of the vintage, but oh-so tender, the tannins whispering behind the sweet fruits. This is regarded as the second wine of Clos de Tart Grand Cru and shows the same generous, plush character.

Big and tannic, while at the same time potentially rich and smooth, this is, as always, an impressive wine. It has weight and dense texture. A solid wine that shows great potential; for now, revel in the plum juice and final acidity that provide a bright counterpoint to the solid, brooding structure.

This is a classic. Not an enormous wine, but with all the finesse and elegance of great Burgundy. The fruit is vibrant, juicily red, bursting through the gentle tannins. The freshness is mouthwatering and vivid. It is probably not a long aging wine, but in 5 years its freshness and ripeness will be equally enjoyable.

A beautiful wine, smooth, polished, with rounded corners. Its intense fruit is balanced and harmonizes well with the sweet tannins, the layers of wood and the red berry flavors. Certainly powerful, it impresses equally with the pleasure it will give in 7–10 years.

Opens with a deep and rich nose, that has black cherries, licorice and earth with hints of smoke and smoked meat, not sophisticated, but it is expressive; big, ripe rich fruit in the mouth, mostly black cherries, but with hints of other fruits; big chewy tannins in the middle; long, smooth and rich at the end with lagging flavors well after the wine has left the mouth. (17.5/20) Several more bottles pretty consistent; I detected a more roasted nose in the other bottles reminiscent of coffee beans; otherwise pretty consistent.

The nose opens with sweet and very rich fruit, wood, mint, freshly churned butter, and a touch of the barnyard; sweet and ripe in the front of the mouth, but then tamping down in the mid-mouth, turning wooden and quite hard; bitter with a touch of licorice; good dry tannins that are not disruptive; touch of chocolate; this wine seems to be on the verge of opening up, and I suggest that in a couple of years it will be much more complete. (16/20)

Consistently a good wine, this bottle opens with a well-defined nose of classic pinot aromas, sweet, black cherry fruit mixed with earth and a touch of smoke; smooth and silky in the mouth, lots of fruit, not a lot of complexity here, but good balance and well-grounded set of flavors; light tannins, good acidity; not exciting but a solid performance. (17/20) Another bottle at a different time seemed better and more complex; perfumed, floral, and spicy with more complex flavors that included touches of licorice oriental spices.
