Sweet and simple, an everyday Cab at a decent price, with blackberry, cherry and cocoa flavors.

Very sweet, this Merlot has candied flavors of cherries, raspberries and butterscotch. Soft and silky, and pretty good for the price.

A good California table wine. Solid structure, not too much alcohol, especially for a Cali Cab Sauv (13%). Nice plum and some oak on the nose. Plenty of plum, currant, oak, and a smidgen of vanilla on the finish, which was lengthy and smooth. Not a bad buy for house full of guests, and pairs well with all sorts of grilled beef and game, and pork. $10

OK, I admit it! I went out to buy a cheap red to accompany my awesome steak. I originally went to the wine shop for either Sin Zin, or Renwood, which I've had before (please read the Renwood note 14 March). After the shop associate found out what I wanted, he promptly took me to Coastline and said, "Well, I just had this Coastline a couple of days ago and for $10 it will taste awesome with your steak." He was quite right: blackberry, black cherries and mocha on both the aroma and flavor. I also detected caramel, and of course, oak, which is typical of California Zins. If you're looking for a full-bodied, tannic, dark fruit forward wine for your ribs, steak, or BBQ, then spend the 10 for this wine. It's meant to be drunk with that beefy meal we Americans love.
