Creamy smooth, dry and crisp with acids, this wine shows modest peach and coffee flavors, accented with a touch of smoky oak.

I liked Cobblestone’s regular Cab; at nearly half the price, it's better. Like that one, this is very ripe and rich in jammy blackberry, cassis, cherry and milk chocolate flavors, but seems oakier and riper, which intensifies the sweet flavors almost beyond table wine levels.

Will it age? That’s the question for this Cab, from a winery better known for Monterey Chardonnay. Right now it’s a bit sharp and obvious, with ultra-ripe, jammy berry-cherry and chocolate flavors and firm tannins. But the balance seems to be there. If you don’t want to cellar it, enjoy with barbecue.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a full-bodied wine with completely soft tannins and relatively high (14.9%) alcohol, which impart a round, ample feel in the mouth. Lush cherry fruit is complemented by hints of beet greens and slightly bitter coffee or chocolate. Drink now and over the next few years.

Cobblestone Pinot Noir - 2009

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
At the age of 5 1/2 years, this Cabernet is still very forward and sweet in blackberry, cherry, anise and cedar flavors. The tannins are rich and thick, in the way of mountain grapes. The wine tastes a bit one-dimensional, although it could be going through an awkward phase.

Overripe, with raisiny aromas and a soft texture. Otherwise, there are tasty currant and chocolate flavors.

The grapes are from Atlas Peak; this may be the ripest Cab I’ve ever had from that mountain. It’s rich and deep in blackberry, cherry, blueberry and chocolate pie filling, and is very soft and luscious. Complex now, it should hold for five to seven years.

Here's a very deeply scented wine. Fruit aromas are peach, ripe pear and tropical fruit, accented by oriental spices. The flavors are massive and persistent. It's as fruity as wine gets, but the balance of crisp acidity, fine tannins and integrated oak creates harmony. It's a bit sweet in the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
At the age of about five years, this Cab is quite soft and dry, and the fruit is just beginning to show development. It’s changing from fresh blackberries and cherries to dried fruits and currants, with a dusty quality. The oak brings in sweetly welcome notes. Should glide into maturity through 2012.

A fresh, clean wine with lively acidity. This Chardonnay has lifted tangerine and pineapple flavors, plus a rich coat of oak that adds vanilla and buttered toast flavors. Drink now.
