Violet in color, with full-bore aromas of plum, perfume and graham cracker. This is a thick, chunky wine that tastes a lot like Dolcetto or Gamay. It’s round, firm, very fruity and a touch candied. It’s also fresh and mildly oaky, with a modest hint of pepper.

Fairly intense, with mineral notes to the deep plum and black-cherry nose. Raspberry and toast flavors lead into a smooth and supple finish that’s a touch tangy and tart. Lacks a great wine’s depth of flavor, but it’s pretty good nonetheless. A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.

Some toasty oak starts it on its way, and in support is some dried red fruit. A sweet and puckery berry-driven palate leads you to a mildly lean but still cuddly finish, while overall it’s modern and shows a fair amount of pop and zest. That said, the wine backs off a touch at the end.

A fine trattoria-type white, best matched to light seafood antipasto or served alone as an apéritif. Aromas of clover-blossom honey and almond paste give way to flavors of unripe honeydew melons and tart limes.

Starts off with peach, almond and cherry aromas and stays light and fruity in the mouth, with simple stone-fruit flavors. With its light tannins, it’s made to drink now. Suck it down with a quick bite at your local pizza place.

There’s a soft, almost plush mouthfeel and a creamy quality to this wine’s aromas and flavors. The dark cherry fruit sports both chocolate and vanilla accents. A touch of espresso on the finish is accompanied by full but soft tannins, giving this wine the structure to age a few years.

This is a step up from Coli’s straight Chianti, with bolder, more forceful aromas of earth, cherry and tobacco and an extra layer of weight on the palate. Like all of the Coli wines, it’s based solely on traditional grapes; in this case, 80% Sangiovese, with lesser amounts of Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia.

Fairly mute, with light aromas of green melon and apple. For certain this is a simple, basic white, but its simplicity is its best attribute. Correct acidity and balance make it a worthwhile quaffer. Drink soon, and drink well chilled.

The tart cherry and earth flavors here have a green hay-like note around the edges. It’s a touch light, but the fruit is decent and it’s not buried under massive doses of oak. The medium-length finish has modest tannins. Drink now.
