Concannon’s Petite Sirah packs a great full-bodied and fruit forward experience. Aromas consist of dark Cherries and spices. Flavors are rich with creamy blueberries and dark cherries. It’s jammy and the tannins are smooth. It has a long lingering finish and great after taste that has you thinking twice about putting down the glass. I know I’ve said it on other Petite Sirahs, but I really suggest you California Cabernet fans try it out, and normally you get good structure, body, complexity, and value from this varietal. Highly recommended; $13.

Wonderful aged California Cabernet nose, green herbs and licorice, earthen with a touch of iodine, lots of terroir here; wonderful flavors of red cherries; lots of earth in the flavors; you really get a sense of the ground where these grapes grew; balanced and softened tannins, but in the true California style, they are still granular at this age; flavors of chocolate and sweet fruit; smooth and silky, perhaps lacking in complexity and depth, but certainly plenty of full-flavored wine here, which at age 40 is holding up quite well. (17.5/20)
