Early aromas are like a pile of pencil shavings, and later some herbal fruit enters the frame. Raspberry and bramble are the lead flavors, while the mouthfeel and balance are solid and push the wine to a reasonable finish. Not a head-turner but it gets the job done.

Tight and lemony, with sharp citrus aromas along with flavors of orange and other citrus fruits. Offers some texture and body, with freshness.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this lighter-styled version of Cabernet Sauvingon, Syrah and Merlot. It opens with weightless flower petal and red-fruit aromas, and the palate meets the challenge with clean plum and berry flavors supported by an undercurrent of creamy oak. At just over 400 cases, it’s definitely a success for this winery.

As good a wine from Conde de Velázquez as we’ve come across. This reserve-level Cab starts with tight cherry aromas but evolves on the palate with plum, berry and cough drop flavors. Sizable, thorough and well balanced, with body and structure.

There’s a weighty overlay of oak, but the fruit is here and it’s fairly balanced and reserved in nature. This is in a softer style with black cherry and sweet plum flavors, and not too much acidity. Drink now.

A little weak in color and density, this lightweight Merlot offers dry, peppery aromas in front of modest wild berry flavors. It’s a touch choppy and woody.

Apple and even some hazelnut create a sweet nose, then comes a soda-like palate that houses lime and orange flavors. It's a fairly intense, live-wire sort of wine, but it's also a touch candied and drab.

Flat and chunky, but chewy and full of strawberry flavors. Somewhat lactic, with hints of sautéed mushroom—not a bad nuance. Nothing to get excited over as it shows decent quality for the price. Imported by WTWM Imports.

Rubbery, with harsh aromas that seem weedy. Better on the palate, where strawberry and raspberry flavors rise up. Finishes grassy and leathery.
