Very elegant and refined, this vineyard-designate Amarone presents focused and chiseled aromas of black stone, mature cherry, blackberry and loads of exotic spice. There’s also a distinct hint of dried herb and the wine’s overall complexity is apparent in the mouth where it also shows soft, silky tannins.

With more than a decade of careful aging under its belt, Vigneti di Osan Amarone offers sweet cherry flavors, dark concentration and bright aromas of vanilla and spice. The wine still makes a big impact in the mouth and is a delightful surprise overall.

Here is a subtle, delicate style that emphasizes cherry cola, apple, root beer, nutty-green aromas such as dried chopped herbs or tea leaf, with currant berry and dried prunes. The fruit tastes very ripe in the mouth and this sensation is underlined by the wine’s natural succulence and chewy consistency.

This wine is all about sweetness, cinnamon and chocolate. From the nose to the finish, there’s a creamy woodiness that mixes with exotic baking spices. The texture is thick, and you will have to favor oak to enjoy it to its fullest.

Carlo Maria Cerutti’s powerful wine boasts strong vertical intensity (you feel it at the back of the nose) with blackberry, mulberry and bramble-like notes. It has a unique, polished personality and is determined but not overpowering in the mouth.

Aromas of cured meats, graham cracker, mint and scented candles render this wine unique. And the flavor profile is equally unusual, as it offers menthol and smoked fish atop sweet dried cherries. The feel across the palate is smooth, and while one of our panelists found this wine too abnormal to recommend, two others admired its qualities.

Amarone Terre di San Zeno shows impressive elegance and beautiful integration of its fruit, mineral and oak-related aromas. This is a precise and focused wine with shadings of graphite and slate behind more opulent tones of cherry, blackberry, plum, cinnamon, clove, mesquite and cedar wood. It’s incredibly long lasting and powerful on the finish.

Amarone Vigneti di Osan opens with sweet aromas of mature fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and ground ginger followed by more austere tones of leather, cigar box and Spanish cedar. The wine is soft and smooth with enormous richness on the close.
