Very extracted and jammy, just oozing with sweet cherry, plum and blackberry flavors. The smoky, vanilla-packed oak also is pronounced. As tasty as this wine is, it could use more balance and restraint of these powerful elements in order to achieve harmony.

You can tell from the pale color that this is a delicate, light-bodied wine, and it is. It’s silky and crisp, and feels weightless on the palate. The flavors? Ripe cherries and raspberries, drizzled with vanilla. The sweetness of the fruit creates weight of its own.

Very inviting, displaying unique, appealing orange-clove, even peach-like aromatics over a cherry fruit core. Clove, anise, caramel and earth accents show on the smooth, structured palate. Good focus and an even mouthfeel give this lanky wine great appeal all the way through its long, smoke and anise-tinged finish.

Aromatic Pinot made in the Burgundian style. A whiff of Bartlett pears (of all things) in the nose, backed up by kirsch. Light-bodied with alive tannins. Heavily spiced, especially with white pepper. A slightly hot quality to the wine. 700 cases made.

This wine captures a certain style of Napa Chard, namely an appley, earthy quality that’s very dry, and that shows dusty tannins and soft acids. Drink now.

This is a fine vineyard and this is a very good Pinot. It’s dry and full-bodied, and flamboyant in cherry pie flavors enriched with vanilla and toast from oak. There’s a rich inner structure of acidity and tannin. Good now with a nice steak, but should develop well over the next five years.

You’d almost think this was apple cider, so pure in sweet green and red apple flavors is it. Whether that’s due to oak, glycerine or sugar, it’s too sweet, and low in acidity to boot.

Warm with a slight herbal nose that also features some tomatoey notes, this is richer than the newly released ’96. Supple and soft, the palate features some anise and white pepper. A round wine made in the house style.

Molasses and dark spices commingle in this almost syrupy beauty. Black fruit with nice concentration provides the necessary balance. Very forward with a silky, fabulous finish. Very classy with fruit from Carneros and Yountville.

This stunningly rich and good Merlot-Cabernet blend has a splash of Cab Franc and Syrah, but it’s very tannic. Yet beneath the tannins is a solid vein of black cherry, currant, plum, chocolate and spice flavors. Enjoy it now in its youth, or age past 2010.
